Pengembangan Media Kontekstual Berbasis STEAM untuk Meningkatkan Minat Belajar Siswa Sekolah Dasar

Science learning in elementary schools is often presented theoretically, triggering misconceptions and reducing student interest in electrical energy conversion. This study examined the effectiveness of an offline physical learning aid based on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), the "Simple Electric Kit," in improving concept understanding and learning interest among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Terondol. The method used a Research and Development (R&D) design with the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), involving 30 students selected through simple random sampling from a population of 92. Data were collected via a concept comprehension test (15 multiple-choice items) and a learning interest questionnaire in pretest-posttest format, analyzed using the Paired Sample t-Test and Normalized Gain (N-Gain). Results showed significant improvement in concept understanding from 48.33 to 83.67 (N-Gain=0.68, moderate category) and learning interest from 56.50 to 85.17 (N-Gain=0.66, moderate category), with p=0.000 (p<0.05), and successfully eliminated students' electrical circuit misconceptions. These findings contribute to affordable, inclusive, and effective learning media innovation using locally recycled materials, requiring no internet connection or costly digital devices
